Vieskan Elementti’s two-year journey of renewal has taken its decisive step forward. It all began back then (see previous news), when our then management team made an offer to purchase the company’s business operations. The journey wasn’t quick, it was a step-by-step process that ultimately led to the solution that secured the company’s long-term future: a directed share issue. Nothing about this was easy, and the current leadership can certainly say that we didn’t need a single additional plot twist along the way.
Two years ago, we also launched a new brand after retiring the former Vieskatalo brand. Our financial history followed us closely, and its impact on our future was a real concern. One of the biggest fears was whether the past could become an obstacle to a fresh start. This didn’t stay theoretical — the truth was that the company would not have survived much longer without significant recapitalization and a clarified ownership structure.
Now this work is complete. In the directed share issue, the company owned by Tomi and Sami obtained approximately 93% ownership of Vieskan Elementti. The remaining 7% stays with 350 previous shareholders. The new structure streamlines decision-making, adds agility, and enables significant strategic shifts to be made at the right moment. This isn’t just a moment of change. This is a new beginning.
Throughout its nearly 60-year history, Vieskan Elementti has demonstrated an exceptional ability to renew itself. This moment continues that tradition. Since the summer, our annualized revenue has remained close to €12 million, and operations have been significantly streamlined. The organization has been renewed, responsibilities clarified, and our future direction made explicit: we are building sustainable, impactful, and internationally relevant operations.
It is also important that our operations continue in Alavieska. Although alternatives existed, the final decision feels absolutely right. The short distance to the Port of Kalajoki offers an entirely new level of opportunity. Next week, the first shipment in 30 years will depart from the port by vessel and our goal is to multiply the traffic between the port and our factory in the coming years.
The winter order book looks strong compared to previous years. And although the construction sector remains challenged, we approach the situation from a different angle: now is exactly the time to do things differently, do them better, and act boldly. Major organizational changes have been made over the past six months with the latest changes happening within the last month. Tomi will continue as CEO, and Sami will take on the role of COO.
Comments from Tomi and Sami:
“We want to extend our warmest thanks to our staff, customers, and partners for this journey. To our staff in particular: thank you for how you’ve driven these changes forward. The new ways of working, new culture, new values, and new operating model are things we deeply appreciate. We also want to give special thanks to our suppliers, your trust, just like our own trust in completing this project, has carried us a long way. So thank you all! This was a life chapter we will certainly remember, and now we have the opportunity to influence what the future of Vieskan Elementti looks like.”
Together, we are building a future that lasts. We thank all our stakeholders for walking this path with us so far. The construction industry is heading toward 2026 and our goal remains the same: to deliver Finland’s best elements for our customers and raise the bar every single day.
